Nepal Airlines to offer travel discounts to AIT community

A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to this effect was signed by Mr.
U.B.Rana, manager, NAC
and Dr. Pritam Krishna Shrestha, Head, External Relations and
Communications Office (ERCO) on 16 July 2010. The MOA was signed in the
presence of the Prof. Said Irandoust, President, AIT and H.E. Naveen
Prakash Hung Shah, Ambassador of Nepal to Thailand.

Mr. Rana expressed his happiness in entering into a partnership with
AIT. According to the MOA, a ticket from Kathmandu to Bangkok will cost
12,090 and 23, 250 Nepal Rupees (NPR) for a one-way and return ticket
respectively. Similarly from Bangkok to Kathmandu, the tickets would
cost 7,125 and 14,125 Thai Baht (THB) respectively. NAC will provide
baggage allowance up to 35 kg per person per flight, while children
will be entitled to a 25 per cent discount. In case of group travel,
every sixteenth passenger will be allowed free travel for a group of 15
or above adult fare paying passengers. AIT shall provide official
request letters for obtaining of this facility from NAC.

H.E. Prahlad Kumar Prasai, Deputy Chief of Mission; H.E. Hari Prasad
Luitel, Second Secretary; and Mr. Dornath Aryal, Deputy Chief of
Protocal/Under Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of
Nepal were also present at the MOA signing ceremony. AIT was
represented by Dr. Rajendra Prasad Shrestha and Dr. Anil Kumar Anal of
School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD);Dr. Sangam
Shrestha of School of Engineering and Technology (SET; Mr. Karma Rana,
Institute Secretary; Mr. Gyanendra R. Sthapit, Coordinator, Habitech
Center; and Ms. Sumana Shrestha, Program Officer, ERCO.

Dr. Sriram Bhagut Mathe, Chairman, Nepal Education Foundation, and
Former Dean, Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University (TU),
Nepal; Mr. Umesh Shrestha, Chairman, LA College of Higher Studies
(LACHS); Dr. Madan Manandhar, Director, LACHS and Principal, LA College
of Management and former Director, Nepal Administrative Staff College;
Mr. Pramod S.S. Pradhan, Chairperson, Nepal’s National Information
Technology Institute (NITI), former President of AITAA-Nepal; Rajesh
Shrestha, Chief Financial Controller, LACHS; and Ms. Shristi Limbu,
Corporate Director, LACHS, and Mr. Purshkar Raj Shrestha, finance
manager, NAC were also present during the ceremony.
