Ethical Beheavior

GENERAL POLICIES
In order to ensure that the ethics of individuals and units of the organization, in line with the principles of good governance, are not compromised, all staff members are required to adhere to the following general policies applying to activities on and off campus.

a. The accomplishments, activities and individual differences of others must be respected.

b. Academic freedom, i.e. the freedom to study, teach, publish and debate, independently from current opinion, must be pursued according to commonly-accepted scholarly standards. This means that individuals will be held accountable for their own actions, findings and statements.

c. No member of the Institute's community must abuse the services, benefits, opportunities and facilities of the Institute, or use them for their personal financial gain.

d. Those with academic or employment supervisory authority must use such authority and employment factors solely for the purposes stated or implied in the Institute's policies, aims and purpose.

e. All full-time staff members must give primary allegiance to their duties at the Institute.

f. N o activity, whether on or off campus, will be undertaken which violates the Institute's policies or is considered detrimental to the interests of the Institute.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

a. A staff member shall disclose to their immediate supervisors actual or potential conflicts with commitment/interest of the Institute, which may incur from his/her activities involving outside entities.

b. A staff member shall practice responsible and ethical behavior in using the Institute's resources, facilities, personnel, equipment, or confidential information etc., except when the prior approval of the competent authority has been given for utilization of such resources.

c. A staff member shall be responsible for developing and maintaining work quality and standards to assure ethical conduct and detection of abuse of these quality and standards.

d. A staff member shall not represent the Institute when expressing his/her personal opinions to outside entities.

e. The acceptance of personal gifts or other forms of personal reward from anyone with whom the Institute has a business relationship is strictly forbidden. Soliciting or accepting such gifts shall be considered as a serious infringement which is subject to immediate dismissal.

Acceptance of a personal gift, unsolicited or anything of value may be allowed in the following instances: Festive Occasion - Christmas, New Year, Birthday, etc.; Tokens of Appreciation - for courtesy call, souvenirs presented by VIP visitors, etc.; Exchange of Souvenirs - logo, plaques, etc. from other institute/organizations given in exchange with the Institute's.

Any person accepting any gift of Baht 1,000 value or more must report to the Unit Head within 15 days, giving details as to the description of the item, sources and circumstance leading to such acceptance. Items of less than Baht 1,000 value may be accepted without reporting.
