20 October, 2023: In a ceremony held on October 20, 2023, 70 outstanding students from 10 countries were honored with prestigious scholarships by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn at the magnificent Sa Pathum Palace. The Royal Thai Government (RTG) scholarships, which carry the names of esteemed royal figures, mark a significant step in supporting international education and fostering collaboration among diverse scholars.

The scholarships, supported by various royal patrons, underscore Thailand’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and international cooperation.

The recipients of these scholarships hail from ten countries, namely Thailand, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Philippines, Vietnam, and Cambodia. The scholarship awarded include:

The four distinctive scholarships conferred upon these promising young minds include:

  1. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, The Great Scholarship
  2. Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother Scholarship
  3. Royal Scholarships named by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua
  4. Lum Nam Khong Pijai Scholarship named by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn

Since, 1970 the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) manages many Doctoral and Master’s level non-binding scholarships provided by the Royal Thai Government (RTG) to qualified candidates with excellent academic qualifications from Thailand and other Asian countries. The scholarships provide an opportunity for students of diverse backgrounds from all Asian countries to study and conduct research together in the truly international environment at AIT and to build a good foundation for International understanding among the people of Asia.
