17 Feb 2009
AIT

A special seminar will be held on Tuesday, 17 February 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in room IE-115, Chalerm Prakiat Building. Prof Kwang-Jae Kim will give the presentation titled Enhancing the Usefulness of Quality Function Deployment.

Abstract

Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a concept and mechanism for translating the “voice of the customer” through the various stages of product planning, engineering, and manufacturing into a final product. Many successes across a broad range of industries have been reported for the past decades.  Notwithstanding the rapid growth of the QFD literature, development of systematic procedures for an effective use of QFD has scarcely been addressed.

In this talk, Prof. Kim will first review the limitations of the existing QFD framework followed by a presentation on some recent extensions from the methodological perspective to enhance its usefulness in practice.  In particular, a validation of the information contained in a house of quality chart and the effective use of the collected information will be discussed.
