AIT alumna appointed Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Social Development and Human Security

Ms. Panita graduated from AIT in 1986 with a M.Sc. in Human Settlements
and Development from the School of Environment, Resources and
Development (SERD). She studied Archaeology in her Bachelor’s degree
from Silpakorn University, graduating in 1977. She also attended the National Defence College of Thailand
in 2004.

Her appointment was approved by the cabinet of the Royal Thai
Government on 22 June 2010. She has served as Director General of the
Department of Social Development and Welfare. Ms. Panita has been
involved with social welfare work since 1977, when she worked in the
government’s Community Development Department in 1977. She also worked
in the Office of Public Welfare, Samut Sakhon, in 1994. She was
Inspector-General of the Department of Social Development and Welfare
in 2002; and Inspector-General of the Ministry of Social Development
and Human Security in 2003.

Ms. Panita has an exemplary record of public service. She is the
President of the Thai Social Welfare Promotion Foundation; Vice
President of The Rajaprajanugroh
Foundation
under the Royal Patronage; Vice President of the
Foundation of Promotion of Family Institution; and Vice President of
Miracle of Life Foundation Under Her Royal Highness Princess Ubonratana
Rajakanya Siriwatana Bhanawadee of Thailand who graciously assigned Ms.
Panita to represent Her Royal Highness for conducting activities in
provincial areas on several occasions.
