Council of Advisors meeting

AIT and AITCV organized the 13th Council of Advisors (COA) meeting at AITCV on May 24, 2000. At this meeting, the Council had the privilege of receiving COA members from AIT, led by Institute President, Prof. Jean-Louis Armand. The other members included Prof. Mario Tabucanon, AIT Provost; Prof. Nguyen Cong Thanh, Adviser to the President; Dr. Do Ba Khang, SOM faculty member; and Dr. Kensuke Fukushi.

The COA approved AITCV’s operational and financial plan for the year 2000 and discussed AITCV’s postgraduate and long-term programs in Vietnam. Prof. Mario Tabucanon, AIT provost chaired the COA meeting.

H.E. Prof. Vu Ngoc Hai, Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training, and Prof. Armand signed a Memorandum of Understanding, boosting the expansion of cooperation between AIT and Vietnam.

The AIT delegation met with H.E. Prof. Nguyen Minh Hien, Minister of Education and Training, and key officials from universities and embassies.

Industrial Systems Engineering (ISE)

AITCV/ISE organized a ceremony on 24 May to welcome ISE’s sixth student intake and held the Graduation ceremony for the fifth batch of students. Diplomas were awarded to nine students and certificate to three.

Language and Training Unit (LTU)

May 4-17 ‘Scientific Research Report Writing in English – Group 2’, conducted by Mr. Chito Mandia, LTU-AITCV.

May 17-30 ‘Scientific Research Report Writing in English – Group 3’, conducted by Ms. Nora Fyles, LTU-AITCV.

May 29-June 2 ‘Training of Trainers’, conducted by Ms. Nguyen Thu Le Hang, LTU-AITCV.

The ‘Educational Management and Research’ for four MOET officials, facilitated by Mr. Thomas David Chavez of AITCV, is continuing at AIT.
