AIT and CTU signed an
agreement on 10 September 2010 to facilitate efficient delivery of
joint programs in education, research and other services for the
region. As a demonstration of AIT’s commitment to this cooperative
effort, an AIT delegation comprising of Prof. Said Irandoust, President
AIT and Dr. Amrit Bart, Director of AIT in Vietnam were present in the
Can Tho University Campus to participate in the ceremony which marked
the official opening of the new AIT-VN office in Can Tho University as
well the beginning of the new academic session. Prof. Nguyen Anh Tuan,
Rector of Can Tho University, who is an AIT alumnus, and over 100 other
alumni are working at the University as faculty members, key
administrators and officials.

The new AIT-Vietnam office is located at the Learning Resource Center,
Campus II, 2/3 Street, Can Tho City. AITVN activities started in 2004
in cooperation with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) –
Can Tho People’s Committee. Over the last six years AIT has contributed
to the development of quality human resources for Can Tho City and
Mekong Delta provinces. Over 100 AIT Masters are now working at several
key positions in the local government organizations and private
companies in Mekong Delta provinces alone. Overall, 3,000 AIT alumni
(doctoral and masters graduates) are holding pivotal positions
throughout the country as educators, policy makers or private
entrepreneurs.

Can Tho University has a long traditional association with AIT dating
back to the 1980s. Many of its faculty members, key administrators and
officials are graduates of AIT. Both institutions have jointly
participated in research and development projects, organized workshops,
seminars and trained students and faculty over the years.
