AIT

The five clusters that received the rating of ‘5’ include Civil and
Infrastructure Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Information and
Communication Technology, Environment Engineering and Management, and
Regional and Rural Development Planning (RRDP). RRDP topped among the
six participating institutes of Thailand.

Following AIT’s performance, TRF has also agreed to award five Golden
Jubilee Royal Scholarships for doctoral studies at AIT for the five
clusters that received the top rating of ‘5’.

The TRF Rating is based on the weighted average of 5 to 1, and is
based on four factors – namely equivalent international journal papers
per faculty member (30%); journal impact factor per faculty member
(20%); total equivalent international journal papers for the entire
subject cluster (30%); and total journal impact factors for the entire
subject cluster (20%).

AIT stands out in all “per-head” categories, namely the equivalent
international journal papers per faculty member, and journal impact
factor per faculty member, implying a high order of research efficiency
and quality of individual faculty members. This is despite
disadvantages of scale as compared to larger universities, which would
have more equivalent international journal papers and total journal
impact factor.
