The Media and Communications Unit/ERCO would like to invite the AIT community to participate in AIT’s annual Photo Competition.

Photos must be submitted by 21 October 2011 to [email protected]. Please read the rules listed carefully. 

The winners will be announced during the culminating activity in November 2011. Winners will also be featured in the second issue of AIT’s quarterly magazine. 

 

Awards:           
1. Photo of the Year            = SONY NEX3 ~ Bt 20,000 (

3. Popular Vote                   = Bt 5,000
4. Category Prizes (4)         = Bt 5,000 each           

 

Display:

Short-listed photographs will be displayed at the AIT Conference Center. The popular vote will be administered over Facebook. 




The Photo Competition will have four categories:


CATEGORY 1: Learning / Outreach / Research

For the best single photograph taken by any member of the AIT community that captures academic and research endeavors by AIT. Photos from the field are encouraged. No more than three photographs per photographer may be submitted in this category. Captions are necessary.

 

CATEGORY 2: Life on Campus

For the best single photograph taken by any member of the AIT community that illustrates the unmatched experience of living in campus. Photos must be taken from within the AIT campus. No more than three photographs per photographer may be submitted in this category. Captions are necessary.

 

CATEGORY 3: Internationality

For the best single photograph taken by any member of the AIT community that depicts the mosaic of ages, races, religions, ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds found uniquely in AIT. No more than three photographs per photographer may be submitted in this category. Captions are necessary.

 

CATEGORY 4: Photo Essay

For the best series of photographs taken by any member of the AIT community. Three (3) photographs are required in order to compete for this category. Topics can be about anything with relevance to AIT such as 1) students arrival at AIT 2) research work 3) social activities. Only three photo essays per photographer may be submitted in this category. Captions are necessary per photo.

 

Competition is open to the entire AIT community. The community includes enrolled students, scholars, researchers, faculty, staff and their immediate families, as well as institutions housed within the AIT campus.

 

Criteria for Judging:

             1. Relevance           

             2. Creativity

             3. Photo composition

Other aspects like Impact, Style, Color Balance, Lighting, Subject Matter, Technique, and Story Telling will also be considered.

 



READ CAREFULLY BELOW

Rules:

1.   Each photograph must be sent via email to [email protected]:  and should be named accordingly. Photos not following the template below will be disqualified:

                        Number of category_ID number_name of picture.jpg

                        Example: 1_8723_firstimpressionofait.jpg

 

2.   Format and Size: All photos MUST be digital images saved in JPEG format. All JPEG images must conform to a minimum size whereby the longer aspect of any image must be AT LEAST 3600 pixels and images should be saved at a minimum quality level 10 (Adobe Photoshop). Digitally tampered / manipulated photographs will be disqualified however the adjustment of the resolution of the photo using softwares such as Adobe Photoshop is allowed. 

3.   Create Date: All photographs should have been taken after 1 January 2010

4.   Each photograph must be accompanied by a Word or Text document with a file name titled “Submission Details. Inside this Word or Text file, photographers must provide their:

  1. Name, full contact information (including phone and email address)
  2. A list of all photos submitted with captions (including location and dates)
  3. Submitting Photo Essays, the file should include a short synopsis of each essay
  4.  The camera model used to take the photograph
  5. AIT ID number (or in case of dependents of AIT students, faculty, staff etc. – it should say c/o followed by the identity number)

Once submitted, AIT reserves the right to use the photographs in official publications/website.

 

5.   Individual images entered as part of a photo essay are eligible for an award in other categories but cannot win more than one prize.

6.   A maximum of three entries per single image category can be submitted per member of the AIT community. A maximum number of three photo essays can be submitted per member of the AIT community.

7.    In each single image category, 20 entries will be short-listed and printed for exhibition. Ten photo essays will be shortlisted.
