AIT is monitoring the flood situation continuously

16 Oct 2011
AIT

Dear Members of the AIT Community,

Despite all our efforts it became apparent that it was a futile effort,
given the tremendous force of the water, and continuous breakages in
the dykes, which resulted in significant overflow of water into the AIT
campus. The Royal Thai Army along with the AIT-Sodexo team fought
valiantly but the forces of nature proved too strong.

In light of the above I called for the evacuation of all AIT
residents, which has just been successfully completed. Here also I
would like to thank the Royal Thai Army along with the AIT-Sodexo for
the very professional and thorough manner in which the task was
undertaken.

My sincere thanks and gratitude to all members of the AIT
community who showed so much courage and solidarity, and in putting
such a tough fight to save the AIT campus from the floods. Our thanks
and appreciation also to all our partner governments and other
stakeholders who came forward in this time of need to support their
nationals.

In order to relocate our servers to safer premises we will be
shutting down our internet connections shortly and will restart it as
soon as possible and communicate developments accordingly.

All is not lost.  The Royal Thai Army and the AIT-Sodexo team
will continue to take up the challenges of salvaging our beautiful
campus, and restoring it to normalcy at the earliest possible.

The fight is still on!

Sincerely,

Professor Said Irandoust
President
Asian Institute of Technology (AIT)
