AP*Retreat meeting

The Internetworking Research Laboratory and the Thailand Network
Information Center (THNIC) hosted an AP*Retreat meeting during 20-22
October, 2000 at AIT. The meeting was attended by 25 leaders from
various leading Internet organizations around the Asia-Pacific region
such as the Asia-Pacific Networking Group, Asia-Pacific Advanced
Network, Asia-Pacific Internet Asscociation and Asia-Pacific Top Level
Domain Names. The group was started by Internet pioneers of the AP
region and has been the main driving force behind important regional
Internet development such as spinning off important Internet
infrastructure organizations like the Asia-Pacific Network Information
Center which handles Internet address allocations for the region,
providing annual technical network operation conference (APRICOT) and an
initiative on multilingual domain names. The group was given a warm
welcome by Professor Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President.
