Recognizing that transparency and accountability are essential to development, the Bank now provides free, open, and easy access to its comprehensive set of data on living standards around the globe—some 8,000 indicators, including hundreds that go back 50 years cover 200 countries worldwide. The data and datbases are now available free-of-charge for the public to search, retrieve, display and export in various formats on our web site http://data.worldbank.org.

As part of the initiative to make the Bank and its data available, the World Bank is also conducting training workshops around the world to encourage the use of our data and to help build the capacity and skills of people to be able to use the Open Data tools. The training will focus on how to access the available data tools and data of interest to students, researchers, and faculty members.
