Prof Worsak awarded Honorary Doctorate by Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences

The degree was conferred on 18 March 2015 by H.E. Mr. Ram Naik,
Governor of Uttar Pradesh, India, in the presence of SHIATS Chancellor
Dr. Jetti A. Oliver, and its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rajendra B. Lal.

The citation reads:
 
“For his wisdom and dedication, as a
scholar and top administrator of an international institute with the
noble goal to foster international cooperation in this Asian Century,
Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences
(SHIATS) is proud to name Professor Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai – Honoris
Causa Doctor of Science (D.Sc.).”

Addressing the audience of over 1000 participants who attended the
Convocation, Prof. Worsak stated that the award is not only an honor
for him but also for AIT. Prof. Worsak mentioned that although AIT and
SHIATS were founded 50 years apart, both have a common goal of bringing
prosperity to the people through advanced education. Prof. Worsak added
that he looked forward towards working closely with SHIATS, especially
in tapping student resources from Africa in the planned integrated
Bachelor’s-Master’s Degree Program.

AIT and SHIATS have signed MOU for collaborations since 2007. Several
AIT Alumni now serve in the faculty of SHIATS, notably Prof. Dr. M.
Imtiyaz (WRE ’76), Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology
and Director of International Education. SHIATS was founded 105 years
ago and was originally known as the Allahabad Agricultural Institute,
by Dr. Sam Higginbottom.
