Horasis partners with AIT for Asia meet

Horasis partnered with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) to bring together highly influential groups of business leaders to discuss collaborative approaches for addressing sustainable growth. The Horasis Asia Meet held in Bangkok on 27-28 November 2018 had AIT playing the role of an academic partner for the annual gathering of business leaders from emerging markets and their global counterparts.
Addressing the delegates, AIT President Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai
remarked that rapid globalization, digital revolution, mass migration,
and the prospect of climate change required a new breed of workforce.
He regretted that our education system was still based on
twentieth-century assumptions. Users, particularly in the business
sector, are unhappy that they are receiving outdated products, Prof.
Worsak said.The education system should equip students with global competencies to
stimulate life-long learning and nurture global citizens who can act on
issues of global significance, Prof. Worsak added. The AIT President
also chaired a dialogue session on “Educating for Employment and
Innovation”.AIT’s Vice President for Administration, Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto
represented AIT in the inaugural ribbon-cutting ceremony; while Dean of
AIT’s School of Management (SOM), Prof. Lawrence Abeln chaired the
plenary session at the event. AIT was also represented by Shawn Kelly,
Director,  Office of External Relations (OEXR), and 12 AIT
students hailing from eight countries who acted as event
rapporteurs.

AIT student rapporteurs included Ms. Weisi Zhao (China), Ms. Swe Mon
(Myanmar), Ms. Wattanee Parmwong (Thailand), Ms. Clara Elizaga
(Philippines), Mr. Milan Regmi (Nepal), Dr. Damri Radenamad (Thailand)
/ SOM, Mr. Muhammad Mujahid Memon (Pakistan), Ms. Peng Xueying
(China),     Ms. Wendy Wuyts (Belgium), Ms. Chaw Su Tin
Htun (Myanmar), Mr. Mohammad Uzzal Hossain (Bangladesh), and Mr. Adeel
Tariq (Pakistan).
