SOM Board Meeting
The second meeting of AIT’s School of Management (SOM) Board was held on 24 May 2007. It was chaired by Mr. Narayana N. R. Murthy, Chairman of the Board and Chief Mentor, Infosys, India and attended by external members Mr. John W. Hancock, Honorary Chairman and Senior Advisor, Baker and Mckenzie Co. Ltd.; and Mr. Suraj Vaidya, President and CEO, VOITH Nepal.
The meeting discussed a proposal on a new venture management program, SOM accreditation, MBA curriculum review, structuring internships as part of the curriculum etc.
According to AIT President, SOM has been making excellent progress under the leadership of Prof. I.M. Pandey, Dean SOM, and over the years, the school has played an important role by developing executive programs. He encourages also like the other schools to consider launching similar executive programs and to this end SOM is willing to partner and share their experiences.
In the same evening, the AIT President also attended a reception held in conjunction with the SOM Board meeting which invited the first batch of DBA participants from Sri Lanka, and some of the DBA participants from Thailand. The participants had an opportunity to meet and interact with the SOM Board members and faculty and also take part in a Q&A; session with Mr. Murthy.
