CARING FOR OUR CITIES

H.E. Dr. Arthit Ourairat, Minister of Science, Technology and Environment (MOSTE) of Thailand, was the honored guest at an international workshop, ‘Creating Sustainable Cities through Urban Environmental Management’, organized by the Urban Environmental Management Project of the Canadian Universities Consortium and AIT and sponsored by Environment Canada. It was held on 6-8 March. Dr. Arthit presented the current status of solid waste management in Thailand. The workshop discussed the financing of solid waste management, cleaner production, the role of good governance in solid waste management, and strategies for developing on-going links and capacity-building in the region.

Joining Dr. Arthit at the Presidential table were Prof. Armand and H.E. Mr. Bernard Giroux, the Canadian Ambassador to Thailand (flanking Dr. Arthit).
