AIT WORKSHOP ON WEB-BASED COURSE DELIVERY

Over the next few years, AIT will make full use of Internet technologies in support of its core activity – the delivery of higher education to students and the region. This workshop is intended to enable faculty to contribute to efforts towards that goal. The workshop will:

· introduce various approaches to putting your courses on the web

· software tools – available from the DEC – which can be used

· examine constraints at various levels (individual, program, school, institutional) and propose means to overcome these constraints
DATES: Tuesday, April 18 – Wednesday, April 19.
The workshop will start at 1300 on Tuesday and run through to 1630 on Wednesday.
SCHEDULE
SESSION 1. TUESDAY AFTERNOON
Introduction and setting the context (1300 – 1315)
Synchronous and asynchronous modes of course delivery (1315-1630)

SESSION 2. WEDNESDAY MORNING
Implementation of web-based course delivery (0830 – 1000)
Practical issues; faculty concerns; identification of constraints;
incentives and other means of overcoming constraints
DEC software for migrating courses to the web (1030-1200)
Break for lunch

SESSION 3. WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
DEC software for migrating courses to the web (1300-1600)

REGISTRATION
The workshop is open to all faculty on a first-come, first-serve basis. As we will need to reserve a lab for the two afternoon sessions, please register for the workshop by 1500 in the afternoon of Friday, April 7.
