Faculty Welcome
The Processing Technology Program of the School of Environment, Resources and
Development welcomes Dr. Mauno Juhani Ruhanen as a Visiting Faculty to
the Pulp and Paper Technology Field of Study.
Dr. Ruhanen obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Paper Technology from
Helsinki University of Technology (UNT). He has taught different
subjects in pulping and wastewater treatment in Lappeenranta University
of Technology, Metsko and Insko Education Centers, and has supervised many
graduate student theses. As Project Manager, he assisted in building
new pulp mills in Finland and extending existing ones. His recent assignment
before joining AIT was Director of R&D for Metsa-Botnia, one of the
largest pulp producers in the world.
Dr. Ruhanen is an expert in environmental science, bleaching and pulping
technology with over 25 years experience in the field. His office is in the PPT Building, ext. 6689
