Visiting AIT
Post-Graduate Institute of Management (PIM)
On 19 March, Prof. G. Nanayakkara, Director of Post-Graduate Institute of Management (PIM) and Mr. Lalith Weerathunge, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education, and Member of the Board of Management, PIM, Sri Lanka, visited AIT to explore possible collaboration between PIM and AIT. The collaboration will mainly focus on SOM’s Masters, Split P.h.D programs, as well, as faculty exchange and joint collaboration. There will also be PIM study visits to AIT and at AIT Extension for short term training programs, ranging from 3-month certificate programs to 2-3 weeks programs.

Belgian Ambassador
H.E. Mr. Pierre Jean Antoine Vaesen, the Belgian Ambassador to Thailand, visited AIT on 22 March. The Ambassador met with Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President, and Deans of the Schools and AIT Extension.

AIT is collaborating with the Katholic University of Leuven (KUL) in Belgium in a major R&D; project to design and produce medical devices using digital medical images of patients. Funded by the Belgian Administration for Development Cooperation, the four-year project is being carried out by the Industrial Systems Engineering (ISE) Program, School of Advanced Technologies, and KUL’s Division of Biomechanics and Engineering Design.
Royal Technological Institute, Stockholm
Prof. Anders Flodstrom, President of the Royal Technological Institute, Stockholm, Sweden, and member of the AIT Board International Academic Advisory Panel, visited AIT on 20 March. Prof. Flodstorm was invited and also attended the Executive Committee meeting held on 21 March.
He met with AIT Administration, led by AIT President, Prof. Jean-Louis Armand; AIT Deans; Prof. Lalit M. Johri, Chairman of Reform Steering Committee; and Prof. Chettiyappan Visvanathan, Urban Environmental Engineering and Management Program Coordinator. He also joined the meeting with H.E. Mr. Pierre Jean Antoine Vaesen, Belgian Ambassador to Thailand.

The Royal Technological Institute or the Royal Institute of Technology (Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan), KTH, was founded in 1827 and is the largest of Sweden’s universities of technology. It is responsible for one-third of Sweden’s capacity for engineering studies and technical research at post-secondary level.
