Energy alumnus to receive Outstanding Scientist Award

Dr. Somchai Wongwises, a professor at King Mongkut University of Technology in Thonburi has been awarded the 2006 Outstanding Scientist Award. The Foundation for Science and Technology Promotion under the Patronage of His Majesty the King gives awards to outstanding scientists in an effort to support and encourage Thai researchers. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will present the awards on 11 August 2006.

Dr. Somchai’s expertise is in heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics. He is working to develop higher performance heat exchangers, to help increase efficiency and reduce power consumption of air conditioners and refrigerators.

Dr. Somchai obtained his Master of Engineering in Energy Technology at AIT in 1984.
