AIT welcomes new Sida representative

Ms. Gunilla Eitrem, Senior Programme Officer,
Environment Policy Division, Department for Natural Resources and the
Environment of Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency
(SIDA), Stockholm visited AIT on 04 November 2008. Ms. Gunilla Eitrem
was recently deployed as AIT’s new contact person for Sida, Stockholm.
SIDA supports AIT through scholarships and funding for the Wetlands
Alliance Program.

 

The purpose of her visit was to familiarize herself with the Sida-AIT
Development Cooperation Programme at AIT and be briefed on AIT’s
ongoing activities. Ms. Eitrem also informed AIT about Sida’s recent
restructuring.

 
President Said Irandoust welcomed Ms. Eitrem to the institute.
Following an update from President Irandoust on AIT’s current and new
initiatives, Ms. Eitrem attended two meetings on the ongoing activities
of the Sida-AIT Scholarships Programme and the Wetlands Alliance
Program (WAP).  
 
The meeting consisted of key AIT personnel including
Professor Sudip Kumar Rakshit, Dr. Pritam K.
Shrestha
, Dr. Sununta Siengthai, Mr.
Hans Guttman
, Mr. Nicholas Innes-Taylor,
Mr. Benjamin Gargabite, Ms. Maritess
Montalbo
and Ms. Monowara Hussain.
 
On 06 November 2008, Ms. Gunilla Eitrem, along with Ms.
Anna Maria Oltorp
, the new Head of Asia Division, SIDA
Headquarters will meet their partners in Bangkok to discuss the new
structure of Sida. Professor Said Irandoust and
Professor Sudip Kumat Rakshit from AIT will attend the meeting at
Swedish Environmental Secretariat for South East Asia (SENSA) office at
the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok.
