Forty students from France have registered at the School of Engineering
and Technology (SET) at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) under the
double degree exchange program. Earlier in December 2009, AIT had
signed a partnership with Polytech’ Nice-Sophia,
University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis for a double degree program.

According to Dr. Nitin Afzulpurkar, Dean, SET, this has been confirmed
during his recent visit to France where he met the Director of
Polytech’ Nice-Sophia. AIT has been provided with a list of students
from France who have opted for AIT as their first choice, preferring
AIT over US and European institutions. Dr. Nitin complimented the work
of his colleagues Dr. Mukand Babel, and Prof. Ashim Das Gupta from the
Water Engineering field who along with Prof. Philippe, Director of UNSC
were instrumental in attracting students from partner institutes.

Dr. Nitin also met AIT’s Erasmus Mundus partners at Nantes. He added
that a similar agreement is being drafted for the Ecole Centrale de Nantes. Under the
Erasmus Mundus program, two Professors from the University of Genoa,
Italy will be at AIT as visiting Professors in 2010.
