UNCRD Director appreciates AIT’s hosting of IPLA

Ms. Takase stated that the IPLA portal was very dynamic and modern,
and UNCRD seeks to enhance AIT’s partnership in the project. She added
that the IPLA Global Forum 2012 was held in Seoul, Korea, in September
2012 to deliberate on a vision for post-Rio+20 Sustainable Urban
Development Society. Prof. Said Irandoust, President, AIT assured of
full support of AIT in the project. Prof. Chettiyappan Visvanathan, of
Environmental Engineering and Management (EEM) field in AIT’s School of
Environment, Resources and Development (SERD), who is leading the IPLA
initiative from AIT, suggested involvement of other multilateral
agencies to support the project.

IPLA was officially launched during the United Nations Commission on
Sustainable Development (CSD-19) held in New York in May 2011. UNCRD is
the Coordinating Secretariat of IPLA, while AIT is the the Global
Secretariat. The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN
HABITAT) is the Regional Secretariat.
