VPAA Prof. IM Pandey becomes Acting AIT President

Prof. Pandey’s appointment was decided at a meeting of the AIT Board of
Trustees on 12 February 2013 chaired by Mr. Nopadol Gunavibool, Deputy
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand, and
Chairman of the Board.

The decision of the Board to appoint Prof. Pandey
read:

9. In line with the provision in the current bye-law 7.11 which states
“In the absence of the President, interim responsibilities of the
day-to-day affairs including any specific mandate shall be assigned by
the President to a Vice President.”, the Board of Trustees voted to
appoint AIT Vice President for Resource Development (VPRD), to serve as
the Acting President, with effect from 13 February 2013 up until the
Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) returns from his leave and
resumes his works on March 4, 2013.

Prof. Pandey has a long association of service with AIT. He has served
as Vice President for Academic Affairs since his appointment was
approved at the meeting of the Board of Trustees, AIT, on 22 November
2011. Earlier, he served as Visiting Professor, School of Management
(SOM), AIT from September 1995 to September 1997 and Dean,
School of Management, from November 2005 to December 2007

He served the prestigious Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad as
professor for about twenty-five years where he also held the position
of Dean and Officiating Director. For short stints, he served in many
institutes and universities in India and abroad. He has been on
the boards of several companies.
