AIT inks partnership with two Cambodian Universities

The partnership provides for exchange of faculty members and students,
joint academic and research activities and seminars, conducting unified
degree, dual degree, joint degree and two-stage programs, and sending
students and staff to pursue Master’s and Doctoral programs at
AIT.

Signing the agreements on 29 March 2017, President Worsak stated that
though AIT is hosted in Thailand, the Institute serves the entire
region. Describing the MoU’s as a first, but giant step towards greater
cooperation with Cambodia, Prof. Worsak asked the two universities to
engage with AIT in upgrading the educational qualifications of their
faculty members at AIT. Stating that 70 per cent of AIT’s students come
from overseas, he described the Institute as an ideal platform for
international cooperation.

Mrs. KY Ravikun, Vice Rector, PPIU, stated that PPIU is a private
university in Cambodia that was established in 2002. Accredited by the
Accreditation Committee of Cambodia (ACC) of the Ministry of Education,
Youth and Sports (MoEYS) of the Royal Government of Cambodia, PPIU
offers Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degree programs.

Introducing Asia Euro University (AEU), Dr. Chea Sopheap stated that
AEU was founded in 2002, and that it offers Bachelor, Master and
Doctoral degree programs. The university currently has 15 departments
and a student body of 10,000.

Also participating in the ceremony was Ms. Choup Vannak, First
Secretary and incharge of educational affairs, Embassy of Cambodia to
Thailand. The visiting delegation included Mrs. Tep Kolap and Mrs. KY
Ravikun of PPIU; and Dr, Chea Sopheap, Mr. Sot Samnang and Mr Sun Setha
(Vice Rectors) of AEU.

AIT was represented by Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, Vice President for
Administration; Prof. Rajendra Shrestha, Dean, School of Environment,
Resources and Development (SERD); Dr. Nophea Sasaki of SERD; Mr. Shawn
Kelly, Director, Office of External Relations (OEXR), and Ms. Wannapa
Pliansri, Coordinator, OEXR.
