24 companies participate in AIT Career Fair

Twenty-four companies participated in the biannual Career Fair and Research Exhibition organized by the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) on 31 October 2018.

Welcoming the participants AIT President Dr. Eden Y Woon stated that AIT is focussing on strengthening its relationship with enterprises, industry and the business sector. “I am confident that companies will find excellent employees when they hire AIT students,” Dr. Woon remarked. The AIT President added that while AIT prides in its international ethos, the Institute is committed towards  broadening its global footprint.

Prof. Sivanappan Kumar, Vice President for Academic Affairs, honored all participants and thanked them for making the event a success. Ms. Joan Carla Gonzales, Coordinator, AIT Career Center & Student Welfare Unit informed the participants that nine of the 24 companies were attending the Career Fair for the first time.

A Students’ Union Research Exhibition and Competition was also organized at the AIT Conference Center. The research exhibition had students present their research in the form of posters and exhibits. The first prize went to Ms. Arlene Gonzales of Climate Change and Sustainable Development from the School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD), while Ms. Raquel D. Santiago- Arenas of Agricultural Systems Engineering (SERD) won the second prize.  Mr. Siraj Muhammad of Computer Science and Mr. Gautam Dadhich of Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems were the joint winners at the third place. While Arlene and Raquel are from the Philippines, Siraj is from Pakistan, and Gautam is from India. All of them are doctoral students.
