At the launch of Excellence Center in
Bangkok on 4 February 2016, I-EA-T and AIT agreed to work together to
strengthen industrial development and economic growth of industrial
estates around the country.

Under a memorandum of understanding signed by I-EA-T Governor Dr.
Verapong Chaiperm and AIT President Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, both
sides agreed to coordinate to enhance industrial developer training,
promote business and industrial investment and to generate business
networks to strengthen the potential of investors of both parties with
the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community.

As AIT is an international postgraduate institute, I-EA-T aims to
consolidate its knowledge management, in particular human resource
development related to sustainable industrial development, regional
special economic zones, and promotion of smart and green estates.

The deal is expected to underscore I-EA-T’s drive to be one of the top
three organizations in developing and administering industrial estates
in Southeast Asia through its “ASEAN TOP 3” strategic excellence
campaign.

“We do hope that with a partner like AIT, we will use technology for
administration more effectively to benefit the estate industry not only
in Thailand but also in ASEAN and in Asia,” Governor Dr. Verapong
said.

Operating under the Ministry of Industry, currently I-EA-T operates
and jointly operates 16 industrial estates in 16 provinces. It is
charged to create and organized industrial estates, grouping together
industries in a synergistic manner.

Dr. Verapong said: “The science of industrial estates is the science
of specific knowledge, which we need to maintain for the benefit of the
country and progress of the region, in order to create sustainable
industry according to the principle of sustainable development.”

AIT President Worsak noted the significance of his international
higher education institute aligning itself with and organization
mandated to develop industry in Thailand. “We would like both partners
to benefit from science and technology and to do research that will be
in-line with I-EA-T’s strategic plan for achieving excellence
nationally and across ASEAN.”
