HRH will also witness the kick-off of AIT Endowment Fund Campaign and
hand over awards to selected senior alumni to be inducted into AIT’s
Hall of Fame, AIT Vice President for Resources Development, Prof.
Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, recently announced.
Spearheading the fundraising campaign, Prof. Worsak said his goal was
to build up a structure and culture of fundraising at AIT. The
seven-year campaign to last from 2010 to 2017 has a goal to raise over
1,000 million Baht. All funds raised will go towards support world
class visiting scholars each year and scholarships for top students in
Asia. AIT is in the process to request that the visiting scholars be
honored “Princess Sirindhorn Scholars”.
The celebration in 7 September 2010 will take place at AIT’s home
campus in Pathumthani, Thailand a day before the Institute’s first
birthday following its Golden Jubilee year. Among the activities will
be a Special Homecoming and Reunion for more than 17,500 alumni around
the world and 500 former faculty, many of whom were seconded by
governments to teach at AIT.
“It will be a special time when all alumni, ex-faculty and their
families return ‘home’ for a reunion on the occasion that AIT embarks
into the second half of AIT’s century,” Prof. Worsak said.
The spotlight will shine on a select group of alumni to be inducted
into a newly inaugurated “AIT Hall of Fame” for their exemplary career
achievements to their respective countries and region. It is expected
that ten senior alumni will be honored in the first year, and the
Institute is now calling for nominations from alumni for the candidates
before the deadline of 15 June 2010.
“Each hall entry will receive their Hall of Fame Medal from HRH
Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn,” Prof. Worsak said. He added that
their photos and citations would be permanently displayed at a highly
visible place on campus.
