In a memorandum of agreement signed on
15 February 2016 by PEA Governor Sermsakool Klaikaew and AIT President
Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, five qualified staff will pursue their
Master degree at AIT each year, while one qualified employee will
enroll in an Energy doctoral program each year for the next four
years.

The MoA valued at 20 Mil. Thai Baht covers the academic areas of
Energy, Computer Science, Telecommunications, ICT, and Management, all
of which are under the human resource development plan of PEA. In
addition, AIT agreed to extend its support for research and development
and technology transfer in relevant areas of interest to the
electricity authority.

Upgrading PEA human resources and technologies will enhance the
effectiveness of its overall operation and the expansion of smart
network, which is in line with country’s energy strategic plan and
sustainable development, officials from both sides said.

The Provincial Electricity Authority supplies electricity to most areas
of Thailand outside of the Bangkok metropolitan area.

Eight deputy governors and other high ranking officials attended the
signing ceremony at PEA headquarters in Bangkok. Associate Professor
Weerakorn Ongsakul of the energy field of study at the School of
Environment, Resources and Development, will serve as AIT’s focal point
for the agreement.

Professor Nazrul Islam, Interim Dean of School of Management, Mr. Shawn
Kelly, Acting Head of External Relations and Communication Office, and
Ms. Wannapa Pliensri, who played an instrumental role in the
coordination of the two parties, also attended the signing
ceremony.
